ABOUT ALEXI

Curious by Nature. Driven by Evidence.

I’m Alexi Xi, a student at Shenzhen College of International Education (SCIE). Having completed G2, I am preparing to begin A1. I’m curious about how businesses, markets and decisions shape the world around us. I study business, economics and decision-making—always looking for evidence, not just opinions.

Why I Started This Project

I started this project because I wanted to understand the businesses behind products that are already part of my everyday life. I enjoy Pop Mart, as do many of my classmates, and I began wondering why certain characters create lasting interest while others quickly lose attention.

Rather than simply accepting other people’s conclusions, I want to learn how to ask better questions, examine original evidence, collect observations responsibly and revise my ideas when the evidence challenges them.

What I’m Curious About

Businesses

How companies create value and build lasting relationships with customers.

Consumer Behaviour

Why people become interested in products, characters and experiences—and why that interest sometimes fades.

Decision-Making

How people make choices when information is incomplete or uncertain.

Evidence

How original sources, observations and different perspectives can challenge an initial idea.

How I Learn

Ask Better Questions

I try to begin with something I genuinely do not understand.

Use Original Evidence

I prefer primary sources, direct observations and clearly identified data.

Challenge My Assumptions

I look for explanations and evidence that may contradict my first impression.

Revise Openly

I record what changed, why it changed and what remains uncertain.

Current Direction

Right now, I am beginning my first independent research project on Pop Mart. I want to understand why my classmates and I are drawn to its characters and products, what makes that interest continue or fade, and whether short-term excitement can develop into durable customer relationships and long-term business value.

This is an early-stage project. I do not yet have a conclusion, and I expect my questions and interpretations to change as I gather more evidence.

Beyond Research

Outside school and research, I enjoy Pop Mart and playing games in my free time. These interests are also part of what makes me curious about why certain characters, products and entertainment experiences become meaningful to people.
